Sports Massage / Deep Tissue Massage / Medical Massage

Sport massage is commonly known by variety of names. A sport massage is the use of specific massage therapy techniques, in an athletic context, used to improve recovery time, enhance performance and reduce the risk of injury. This is accomplished using techniques that stimulate the flow of blood and lymph to and from muscles. Sport massage is often delivered before or after physical activity depending on the subject's needs, preferences and goals.

A SPORT MASSAGE is not just for athletes. A sport massage helps with everyday health issues such as; headaches, migraines, sciatica, muscular pain relief, anxiety, depression and muscle development.

Peer-reviewed medical research has shown that the benefits of massage include pain relief, reduced anxiety and depression, and temporarily reduced blood pressure and heart rate. Additional testing has shown an immediate increase and expedited recovery periods for muscle performance. Theories behind what massage might do include enhanced skeletal muscle regrowth and remodeling, activating the parasympathetic nervous system, which may stimulate the release of endorphins and serotonin, preventing fibrosis or scar tissue, increasing the flow of lymph, and improving sleep.

Injury / Pain Assessment + Personalised Treatment Plan

Our Injury / Pain Assessment plan is aimed at people who have an injury or ongoing health condition which they are hoping to rectify. During the initial visit, Diane will assess the injury/condition and provide hands-on treatment when possible. After the visit Diane will personalise a program, including stretches, movements and activities which will help improve the injury/condition. Diane will email the personalised treatment program to the client within one week from the appointment.

Usually, follow up appointments are made (but not required) to continue with hands-on treatment and to update treatment plans.
